Forty-six(46) Health workers in the Bono Region have contracted the Coronavirus disease.

The Acting Bono Regional Director of Health Dr. Kofi Amo-Kodieh who made this known at a press briefing in Sunyani, “mostly asymptomatic or recovered except four (4) who are showing mild symptoms and are of those being managed at the treatment centres” he added.

"These Health workers are working in different health facilities in different districts in the Region".

He said the region currently has 96 positive cases with no death.

“Eight (8) are exhibiting mild symptoms and are in treatment centres while the remaining 58 are mainly asymptomatic and are self-isolating” he stated.

"Active contact tracing is still ongoing, and we are still managing the outbreak through the routine and enhanced surveillance system as well as social mobilization and risk communication in collaboration with our partners", he stressed.

“It is sad that the region don't have isolation centres, yet to decide where to condone the victims”,he said.

Dr. Kofi Amo-Kodieh explained that, the trend of cases in the region is clearly depicts a local transmission and therefore it is very important everybody pays particular attention to the safety protocols outlined by authorities, added that" the current trend of cases in the region is clearly depicts a local transmission and therefore it is very important everybody pays particular attention to the safety protocols".

He therefore encouraged everybody to stay at home if necessary, to stop personal contact and the spread of COVID-19.

He said the region could be overwhelmed with cases if the people failed to change their attitudes and continue to behave in wanton disregard of safety protocols such as social distancing, washing of hands with soap under running water and wearing of nose masks.

“Let’s keep ensure we eat balanced diet, rich in fruits and vegetable and consume generous amount of fluids while we exercise regularly” he urged people in the region.
