Bono Regional Coordinating Council (RCC),led by Mrs Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson,the Regional Minister has donated some food items to the Muslim community in support of their Ramadan.

The items included bags of rice, bags of sugar and milk among others.

Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is a month where the Holy Quran was first sent down to the Prophet Mohammad (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa’Sallam). During the Ramadan month, Muslims all around the world must fast.

Presenting the items,the Deputy regional minister Hon. Siaka Stephen who made the donations on behalf of Mrs Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson,said that the items were to support the Muslims community in this period of COVID-19 as they continue with their fasting.

He urged them (Muslims) never to give up along the way as they are praying in their various homes due to COVID-19 but endeavor to see the fasting through to the end.

Hon. Siaka Stephen who is also a Member of Parliament for Jaman North,said “ As our president said we’re not in normal times because our country (Ghana) is in a critical period,so lets all go by the measures instituted to help reduce person-to-person contact, and help defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The selected Muslim communities who benefited from the donation include:

  1. 20 bags of Sugar, 10bags of Rice for Regional Council of Zongo Chiefs.

2. 10 bags of Sugar, 10 bags of Rice for Regional Imam and Mallam’s.

3. 10 bags of Sugar, 10 bags Rice for Regional Ahlu Sannah Imam and Mallam’s.

4. 10 bags of Sugar, 10 bags of Rice for Regional Ahmadia Imam and Mallams.

5. 10 bags of Sugar, 10 bags of Rice for Regional Tijaaya Imam and mallams.

Alhaji Umar A. Kadir,the Bono,Bono East and Ahafo Regional Chief  Imam expressed gratitude to Bono Regional Coordinating Council led by Mrs Evelyn Ama Kumi Richardson, the Bono Regional Minister for the kind gesture.

He said the donation has come at the right time as most vulnerable people during Ramadan seek the support of the Imam and various Mallams, added that the items would be distributed among Muslims as indicated as the primary purpose.

Regional Chief  Imam commended President Akufo-Addo for demonstrating leadership and responding swiftly towards the fight against the coronavirus disease in the country,”We (Muslims) love Nana Addo so much”he added.
